| Voice over Broadband
Solution
Overview
For service providers around the world,
voice over broadband has quickly become
an exciting new application that is redefining
how voice services are delivered to subscribers.
By enabling the delivery of voice services
over highspeed cable or DSL lines, service
providers can now offer next-generation
voice services that are truly integrated
with the Internet, allowing subscribers
to personalize and customize their voice
services via a standard web browser. For
competitive service providers, voice over
broadband allows them to access end users
without the upfront capital expense typically
associated with a network build or the cost
of leased lines from incumbent carriers.
Business Need
For all service providers, the overarching
business driver is how to stay competitive
by quickly attracting and keeping new customers.
To achieve this goal, service providers
looking to enter the voice over broadband
market need to deploy flexible and reliable
solutions that allow them to deliver a broad
range of innovative voice services with
a pragmatic, pay-as-you-grow architecture
that provides a reduction in overall telecommunications
costs. In addition, service providers need
to understand that, with the proliferation
of voice over broadband offerings, subscribers
can change their service providers much
more quickly than before. If the service
has poor call quality, is unreliable and
doesn’t evolve regularly to support
innovative new voice features, subscriber
churn is certain to occur.
sentitO’s
Solution
sentitO Networks provides a highly-scalable,
secure and reliable voice over broadband
solution that cost-effectively allows service
providers to roll out competitive voice
over broadband services today while putting
in place a
complete service delivery framework for
the ongoing rollout of innovative new services
to eliminate subscriber churn. sentitO’s
Open Network Xchange (ONX) product portfolio
is the first-and-only solution purpose-built
from the ground
up for carrier-class VoIP deployments. Custom
hardware that’s globally certified
and an open and distributed architecture
based on industry-standard SIP and XML combine
to create the most flexible, secure, scalable,
and reliable VoIP solution available today.
Service providers can leverage SIP and XML
to ensure interoperability and accelerate
time-to-revenue with voice and enhanced
SIP services and reliably deliver those
services over the Internet and/or private
IP networks.
The ONX consists
of the following carrier-class products:
• The Intelligent Voice Gateway (IVG)
is a purpose-built, SIP-based media gateway
that performs Time Division Multiplexing
(TDM)/IP conversion processing, call control
and call routing. It combines the functions
of a media gateway, a router and a service
broker to create a more efficient and secure
solution purpose-built for VoIP networks.
• The Proxy7 Signaling Gateway uniquely
combines a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
proxy server with SS7 signaling intelligence
to create the most cost-effective bridge
between emerging VoIP networks and the PSTN.
It enables intelligent and scalable SIP/SS7
interworking to support transparent configuration
and management of services across-and- between
IP and TDM networks.
• The PreVision Network
Manager is an integrated, real-time carrier-grade
management platform for seamless and simplified
billing, management and administration.
In addition to the ONX products, sentitO
provides a wide range of certified partners
to round out a turnkey voice over broadband
solution, including application servers,
session border controllers and SIP endpoints.
Because sentitO’s ONX natively incorporates
industry-standard SIP and XML scripting
for partner interworking, the time to deployment
and revenue is dramatically decreased.
Benefits
• sentitO’s ONX speeds time
to deployment and revenue through native
SIP and XML scripting and interworking with
partner products
• The IVG uniquely incorporates enhanced
security features, such as Denial of Service
(DoS) and Access Control Lists to prevent
malicious attacks, such as SPIT (Spam over
Internet Telephony) and ping floods to a
service provider’s network and subscribers
• The ONX constitutes an advanced
service delivery framework, capable of interoperating
with multiple feature server elements, including
Asterisk™, to ensure consistent service
innovation, decrease subscriber churn and
increase average revenue per user
• The IVG provides wire-speed routing
of voice bearer paths for unmatched voice
quality and reliability across disparate
networks
• The ONX’s open and distributed
architecture enables service providers to
distribute up to 5 IVGs per each Proxy7
signaling gateway to reach a wider customer
base and to provide secure local handoffs
to the PSTN
• With no common or pooled DSP resource
cards, the IVG enables a true ‘pay-as-you-grow’
model for traffic and service deployment.
