KEY BENEFITS:

Seamless VoIP to Wireless Roaming - Increase revenue share by capturing more of your customer's calls by seamlessly routing VoIP and Wi-Fi calls to the wireless service provider network.

Single Number Convenience – Increase customer loyalty by providing the flexibility and convenience of multiple communications methods all originating from and terminating
to their wireless number.

Assured Security - VeriSign is the leader in managed security services, extending our experience in securing Internet infrastructure, to ensuring protection of network interconnection points with firewall management, intrusion detection, vulnerability protection, vulnerability alerting, managed VPN, and incident response and forensics services.

Reliability - Route management for Wireless IP Connect is supported by VeriSign's ATLAS infrastructure with proven scalability and reliability - handling more than 10 billion transactions a day for the Internet's .com and .net domains.

Wireless IP Connect

VeriSign's Wireless IP Connect provides wireless operators with an innovative service to increase customer loyalty and gain a greater revenue share from their client base. VeriSign has partnered with hundreds of wireless carriers to enable interoperability, and offer enhanced services for content, messaging, and billing. VeriSign's Wireless IP Connect is a valuable addition to our portfolio of wireless managed services allowing wireless service providers to offer VoIP roaming services to their subscribers. Your customers can benefit even more from the ability to port their home or business number to their mobile service when you allow them to move seamlessly between wireless, WiFi, and VoIP networks with their single wireless number.

+ Grow Revenue - Increase Customer Loyalty

Wireless IP Connect allows wireless service providers to increase their share of addressable communications revenue. VeriSign gives you the ability to capture the calls your subscribers make and receive on their IP phone. These calls become virtually an extension of the wireless service you provide. Your customers can enjoy the convenience of a single number without the need to forward calls to and from devices - the calls will seamlessly roam to your network

+ The Solution

Wireless IP Connect allows any wireless network provider connected to the VeriSign Network to provide full VoIP-to-wireless roaming. Wireless IP Connect ties together the mobility management capabilities of VeriSign's SS7 network (facilitating communication between VoIP networks and the mobile carrier's HLR) and the location services of a VoIP domain, via the SIP protocol. The routing, whether for end-to-end VoIP calls or wireless-carrier calls, is supported by VeriSign's highly scaleable Advanced Transaction Lookup And Signaling (ATLAS) infrastructure.

VeriSign's network provides the following features:

• The ability to originate calls from a VoIP network using the mobile identification number. With wireless number portability the preferred number can be used.
• The ability to terminate calls in the VoIP network using the mobileidentification number
• The ability to roam between VoIP networks and mobile networks under the same identity
• Secure connectivity
• QoS management and treatment
• Route management
• Interoperability with peer network equipment
• Address space translations
• Feature transparency

VeriSign's Wireless IP Connect allows wireless providers to integrate their offering with the growing VoIP minutes in enterprise and consumer markets

Security: Wireless IP Connect builds on VeriSign's managed security services (MSS) to provide perimeter security management at the interconnect points to a VoIP network. Leveraging VeriSign's 24/7 Security Operations Center, the Wireless IP Connect service is protected by firewall management, intrusion detection, vulnerability protection, vulnerability alerting, managed VPN, and incident response and forensics services. VeriSign's security service goes beyond installing security products - VeriSign provides a professional staff fully equipped with monitoring, protection, and response capabilities.

Route management: Wireless IP Connect leverages VeriSign's ATLAS infrastructure - currently used to run the .com and .net root domains for billions of transactions every day - to route calls to the proper network based on the location of the called party. Additional routing criteria, provisioned per enterprise, are also supported for more sophisticated route resolution methods. Through its service discovery capability, the ATLAS platform also initiates Local Number Portability services, and Toll-free and CNAM queries. The Wireless IP Connect solution is integrated with VeriSign's own SS7 network to handle SS7 interactions transparently to the wireless network provider.

Reliability and Scalability: Routing resolution for end-to-end VoIP calls needs to be supported by a 99.999% available infrastructure, and VeriSign provides that level of reliability. Also, VeriSign's infrastructure can scale to support a very large number of routing entries - though VeriSign's ATLAS platform supports more than 10 billion transactions a day for the Internet's .com and .net domains, it can support many times that amount of traffic.

Interoperability: Wireless IP Connect allows subscriber of wireless networks to roam into VoIP networks that use SIP, CMSS or H.323. VeriSign's border control gateways communicate with interconnecting VoIP networks using SIP, H.323 or CMSS, minimizing the interoperability challenges that may occur in call setup with the terminating networks.

Feature Transparency: Interoperability of the VeriSign network ensures that Wireless IP Connect delivers features end-to-end, regardless of the protocols in use or the equipment vendors deployed in the egress and ingress networks.
