From cellsites, to software solutions, to text promos, the AHD Group is riding high on the mobile telco wave with CEO/President Primo Allan B. Jarlos on the standup.

What started about a decade ago as a simple ‘on-the-side’ operation composed of a sales team of two and a handful of engineers meeting in a desolate parking lot to plan their next project, putting up cell sites for mobile telephone companies, has now grown into a roster of five fully operational companies. All of this owing of course to this young, self-motivated CEO.

ABJ, as he is referred to by his staff, started young. A tech guy by degree and a salesman by profession, he became a CEO at age 27 and went on to establish and sustain his own company, or in this case, companies. His technical background and business savvy is what drove him to take advantage of the opportunities brought by the mobile industry. Two of his companies, AHD-Advanced Communications Systems and commzGATE Phils. Inc. have been partners with the country’s major telecommunications providers for several years now.

AHD-ACS was incorporated in 1997 and has since then been reaping years of growth in terms of revenue and net income. The company represents well-known manufacturers from Europe, US and the Asia Pacific region. Its’ wireless expertise covers radio frequency planning, engineering, design and consultancy, radio frequency project management, installation, testing, commissioning, integration, technical site survey and documentation, radio base station maintenance, “RF and Facilities” logistics and warehousing. Furthermore, AHD-ACS is also banking on its’ Information Technology expertise which includes innovations in enterprise applications that leverage on ‘mobile value added services’ such as SMS, WAP, MMS and GPRS application development using XML, Java Script, Java, ASP, HTML, WML including HTTP, CIMD2 and UCP as well as Multimedia application development, synergizing technologies such as WiFi, GPRS, SMS, MMS and WAP. AHD-ACS has created quite a reputation amongst its’ customers for having the fastest response time and excellent service. The group has installed and commissioned more than 3,000 radio base stations and microwave and relay stations all over the country. Their clients include all major cellular operators and original equipment manufacturers.

commzGATE on the other hand, provides SMS (more commonly known as ‘text messaging’) and MMS programs and promos where mobile subscribers can get much-needed information, cool downloads, or win various prizes just by texting. But more than your usual text promos, commzGATE prides itself in providing solutions that offer companies and the public a convenient and cost-effective alternative to normal everyday and business processes. Using software technology that is currently being utilized by major telecommunications companies over the Asia Pacific, commzGATE offers an array of SMS based solutions such as common information-on-demand services to personalized exam results, ad-posting and even bus ticket purchasing. Their clients include schools, organizations, TV and radio networks, publications, various government institutions and other brick and mortar companies.

This A.I.M. topnotcher has certainly been very busy but has no plans to take a break anytime soon. His companies are positioned to become market leaders in mobile and mobile engineering services for years to come, and right now, the group has opened its’ doors to various partners and investors. His goal is to gear up his companies for expansion outside the Philippines.

Allan B. Jarlos has more than 12 years experience in the Telecommunications and I.T. industry. In his previous employment, he held sensitive corporate jobs in the field of sales, engineering and management of some leading local and multinational companies. His past corporate experience has given him the knowledge and capability to run an effective organization.

He has taken several international engineering, sales and management training programs in Israel, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan. He holds a Masters Degree in Entrepreneurship at the Asian Institute of Management where he graduated with the highest distinction of “Superior Performer” and got a two-time commendation “Gurus Commendation” for two consecutive semesters. He also finished Mini Masters in Franchise Management under Nova Southeastern University, USA and took a management training program in Yokohama, Japan under a scholarship granted by the Association of Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) of Japan.
