Wireless Provides Wireless Solution for
Largest Shopping Mall in Asia
SAN JOSE, Calif., January
15, 2004 - LGC Wireless, a market leader
in in-building wireless networking solutions,
announced the installation of its InterReach™
Unison system in Berjaya Times Square located
in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
The LGC Wireless solution allows for improved
wireless capacity and coverage for the 3
million monthly guests that visit this integrated
retail, entertainment and leisure complex
which spans over 7.5 million square feet.
LGC's solution ensures its visitors are
never out of touch and every mobile call
arrives safely at its destination.
Berjaya Times Square has
1,000 shops, 65 restaurants, a hotel, convention
center, indoor roller coaster and it's own
helipad. Times Square is set to be an international
landmark for shopping, luxury accommodations,
business, amusement, dining and entertainment.
The shopping mall alone is 2,100,000 square
feet. This is the second biggest in-building
wireless project for Malaysia after the
Petronas Towers, which also has LGC's wireless
solution deployed.
LGC teamed up with system
integrator and distributor ENC Sendirian
Berhad along with the largest Malaysian
GSM operators- Celcom, DiGi, and Maxis,
to implement the InterReach Unison system.
InterReach Unison is a fiber optic wireless
networking system designed to handle both
wireless voice and data communications and
provide high quality, seamless access for
mobile users.
"We were happy to work
with LGC Wireless on the project at Berjaya
Times Square, Kuala Lumpur," said TK
Lum, managing director of ENC Sendirian
Berhad. "Our partnership with LGC enabled
us to successfully complete the project
ahead of schedule. This in-building system
was designed for current 2/2.5G and future
3G networks. It is shared commonly by the
three cellular operators; Celcom, Digi,
and Maxis. With more than 1300 wideband
antennas covering 7.5 million square feet,
this installation is the largest single
shared in-building network in Malaysia and
possibly the world. "
"LGC Wireless is proud
to provide Times Square with superior wireless
access," said Ian Sugarbroad, president
and CEO of LGC Wireless. "The expertise
and complimentary strengths of LGC Wireless,
ENC, Celcom, DiGi, and Maxis bring a best-in-class
wireless solution to Times Square ensuring
uninterrupted wireless communication throughout
Malaysia's biggest commercial complex."
